May 25, 2017 - Our thoughts are with the victims in the Manchester bombing this week, and with the entire community as it rebuilds. Eighteen years ago I was recruited by the University of Manchester, and nearly took an academic position there, and ever since I have a special admiration for the people and the city there. The world is with you right now.

April 22, 2017 - Today marks the tenth anniversary of my father's death, and this morning one of my favourite uncles passed away. He was  good uncle and a good friend, and he will be missed.

April 3, 2017 -  I came home today and found municipal road crews have marked up the road, my driveway, and my front lawn. Judging from the signs placed nearby it looks like my street is going to be closed down for some time in the future, and so my schedule will be quite messy for the next few days or weeks or months. I do wish they would provide warning or information to residents and owners before causing such chaos! 

February 19, 2017 - Eighteen years ago today the hospital promised my parents a carehome within "a few days". I guess they confused the word days with decades...

February 16, 2017 - Unfortunately there was a glitch with some of the code used in my new artwork and family history websites, and so I have had to temporarily take them offline. They will return once I have time to rewrite the offending lines.

January 25, 2017 - It is so wonderful to live in a country where we can celebrate all cultures and festivities in freedom. Tonight it is Burns Day and haggis in honour of my Scottish heritage! 

January 21, 2017 - Another strange occurrence today - I was talking to a friend today who told me that he had posted a message to my Facebook account, and it was deleted shortly after by someone using my account. Then another person told me that they had sent some e-mails to my mother last week and it seems that those were also deleted by someone accessing her account. There is one suspect who had access to both accounts, but I hesitate to name him (although many of you already know who I mean). In any case, if any of you have sent me a message that wasn't acknowledged, it is probably because of this hacker causing more trouble. I don't know what to suggest other than to send it again and hopefully I will receive it before it gets deleted this time!

January 17, 2017 - In my ongoing efforts to move my websites to a more secure host, I have now setup a couple of separate websites to host my family history work and my work in computer graphics & renderings. It will take a while to get everything setup, but the new addresses are http://family.drchrisbird.net and http://artwork.drchrisbird.net

December 27, 2016 - I apologize to all of you who came looking for my annual Christmas and New Year's Day ramblings. The software I use for blogging on these websites went down on Christmas Eve, and due to the holidays the webhost's technical staff cannot get it fixed until next week sometime. Rest assured though that I will post them then, even if they are a bit late. Enjoy the holidays everyone!
