Further Explanation

After writing the introduction, I realized that some of the more distant family members may not be as familiar as I am with the different family lines. I have written the names and connections down on another page, but I will repeat them here for clarity.
The Bird family is obvious - that is my family name, as it was my father's family name and his father's family name going back through the eons. They came from England, around Nottingham and Kenilworth, to Saskatchewan in Canada, and eventually to British Columbia via the Yukon gold rush. Other names in this line are Dencer, Lancaster, Beasley, and Scrimshire (or Scrimshaw).
The Thomson family is my paternal grandmother's line. They came directly to BC from Fife, Scotland, and this family line includes the surnames Moyes, Young, Clark, Campbell, Walker, Black, Gordon, Beatson, and Dall.
The Frazer family is my mother's line. They came to BC, via Saskatchewan and Ontario, after originally hailing from Northern Ireland and southern England (around Hampshire). Other names in this family are Faithfull, Faythefull, Lutman, Mainer, Wilson, and Houghton.
The Remenda (or Remanda, or Remende, depending on the method of translation) is my maternal grandmother's line. Her family emigrated to BC via Saskatchewan, after sailing to the new world from the Ukraine. Unfortunately the language and technology barrier make this family line virtually impossible to research. Other names in this line are Bazowsky and Mikitiuk (or Mykytyuk).
So those are the family lines that I am researching. If you have information on these families, I would love to know about it (although so far no one has found better than what I already have).
I hope that everyone reading this enjoys the information that will be forthcoming here in this blog and on this website in general.
