May 13, 2015 - A quick reminder for my fellow Esquimalt High School alumni that there is a centenary celebration and reunion on Friday and Saturday this week. More information can be found here.

May 10, 2015 - Happy Mother's Day!!

May 7, 2015 - Today is National Day of Reason for our friends and neighbours down south. A day to celebrate the power of the human mind to solve problems with reason and logic instead of superstition. More details can be found here.

May 3, 2015 - Probably most of you already know of what happened in Nepal recently, but for those who have been in a cave, there has been a devastating earthquake that has destroyed villages and killed many. I have many friends who have visited this beautiful country over the years, and I have always dreamed of making the trek myself someday. It is a tragedy that they have been hit like this. Charitable donations can be made here.

May 1, 2015 - I have very mixed thoughts tonight - someone showed me a cool new online widget that takes an uploaded photo and guesses the subjects age. I love the technology, except it guessed my age as 77!

April 30, 2015 - I apologize to those who I missed meeting with today. I made the mistake of stopping into the local back first, and in the ten minutes I was there a road crew closed off every exit from the bank parking lot! It took over thirty minutes to get out again...

April 7, 2015 - Today marks National Caregiver's Day, when we recognize the hard work of the over six million people who are forced to balance their fulltime employment or education with the constant demands of looking after someone who is disabled in some way. I know from painful personal experience how difficult and damaging it can be, and I hope that this day will raise awareness of this under-appreciated role that many people are forced into.

April 5, 2015 - HAPPY EASTER!!

April 5, 2015 - For my fellow Esquimalt High alumni who have not seen this, the newspaper has a great article on the 100th anniversary of the school. The online article can be found here.

April 1, 2015 - That was an interesting April Fools Day. For the record, hijacking someone's social media account after they kindly let you share their WiFi and internet connection, for the sole purpose of insulting and slandering other people, while they are taking their elderly mother out to buy groceries is not really a prank...

April 1, 2015 - I have been getting a lot of snooping visits to my Facebook account recently. You think you were doing it anonymously, but FB records visitors. The worst offender of all is at https://facebook.com/profile.php?=7332236
UPDATE: For those who didn't realize it yet, that link was an April Fools Day gag... I appreciate all of my friends and family online, and certainly don't have any objection to a friendly visit!

March 30, 2015 - Some of my more creative friends and extended family might be interested in this new contest from the Canadian Mint. They are looking for coin designs to be released in 2017, and the person who designs it wins a trip and $2000. Details can be found here.

March 25, 2015 - Apparently the electrical service to my neighbourhood will be off for up to eight hours tomorrow. So if I do not reply to messages, that will be the reason.
