May 4, 2012 - It is a happy day! I just received photocopies of my paternal grandfather's military records from WWII (I got my maternal grandfather's records in the fall, but I don't know why the difference in times). It is an interesting perspective on history to see what my grandfather's were doing and going through at the time. As always, if any family members want copies let me know and I will send scans.
April 22, 2012 - It was five years ago today that my father died. How time flies...
April 10, 2012 - A bit of a sad anniversary today - if my father had lived through all of his health problems today would have been his 70th birthday.

March 13, 2012 - I am sitting in my office looking out at a blizzard hitting Victoria (technically it is just a heavy snowfall, and it is melting on contact with the ground, but around here that is considered a blizzard). It is just awful living through a westcoast winter :)
March 11, 2012 - A reminder to everyone who lives in time zone that uses daylight savings time that today is the day when we get the joy of changing the time on every clock, camera, appliance, radio, VCR, DVD player, television, computer, and automobile. By the time I finish it will be time to change them back again :)
March 1, 2012 - I received an e-mail today via a genealogy website I worked with long ago, from a second cousin seeking information on our common ancestry. Unfortunately the return e-mail address was incorrect, so I have no way of replying :(
February 29, 2012 - Today is anti-bullying day. We will never be able to stamp out bullying, but as a society we must always strive to reduce it,( or at least quit rewarding the bullies!)
February 26, 2012 - We just had a five minute burst of snow! Of course it instantly melted when it hit the ground. It is horrible having to survive these west coast winters! ;-P
February 16, 2012 - I have had a few comments and questions about my new colour coded hit counter map on the index page. The location of each dot indicates the geographic location of the ISP that accessed my site. The red dot is the current user, orange dots are visitors from the past two days, yellow dots go back a week, green about a month before that, and blue dots three months. White dots pre-date my new hit counter, so they are from past years. Of course all information is subject to change based on my whims.
February 4, 2012 - For those who have been asking, I was not affected by today's earthquake. The international media said it was near Victoria,BC but in fact it was about 200 miles northwest of the city. However I do appreciate the concern shown by friends and family :)
